Why Do We Exist as a Church?
The Mission of Lake Hills Baptist Church
Helping all people from all nations find and follow Jesus through the Bible, community, service, and mission.
Helping all people from all nations find and follow Jesus through the Bible, community, service, and mission.
What drives us at Lake Hills? What’s the heartbeat behind our worship, our outreach, and our discipleship? It’s simple—but powerful: we exist to help all people from all nations find and follow Jesus.
That’s not just a catchy phrase—it’s a calling straight from the mouth of Jesus.
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:19–20 (CSB)
These are not optional words for a church. This is our mission: to go, to help people know Jesus, and to walk with them as they learn to live for Him. It’s a mission big enough for the world and personal enough for your neighbor.
Let’s break down how we live this out:
Find and Follow Jesus
We want people to find Jesus—because He is seeking them. In Luke 19:10, Jesus said, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.” We believe the good news of Jesus—the gospel—is still the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16), and that every person matters to Him.
But the mission doesn’t stop there. Jesus never called people to just “make a decision.” He said, “Follow me” (Mark 1:17). Our aim is not just to introduce people to Christ, but to help them grow as His disciples—learning to trust and obey Him every step of the way.
Through the Bible
Everything we do begins and ends with the Word of God. The Bible is not just helpful—it’s essential.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” —2 Timothy 3:16–17 (CSB)
God’s Word shows us who Jesus is, who we are, and how we’re called to live. At Lake Hills, we’re committed to Scripture-saturated ministry, where people can hear God’s voice clearly and be shaped by His truth.
In Community
We follow Jesus together. From the earliest days of the church, believers gathered regularly to pray, share meals, encourage one another, and meet needs (Acts 2:42–47). Life in Christ is not meant to be lived in isolation.
We want every person—no matter their background, ethnicity, or season of life—to find genuine relationships, biblical encouragement, and spiritual family here.
Through Service
Jesus said He didn’t come to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). And He calls His followers to do the same.
At Lake Hills, we serve each other in love and use our gifts to build up the church (1 Peter 4:10–11). Whether it’s holding a baby, teaching a class, or cleaning up after a meal—every act of service reflects the heart of Christ.
On Mission
We’re not here to build a comfort zone—we’re here to join God’s mission. The gospel compels us to go—to our neighbors and to the nations.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” —Acts 1:8 (CSB)
That’s why we pray, give, invite, and go—because we want all people, from all nations, to know the hope of Jesus.
This is our mission. This is why we exist.
At Lake Hills Baptist Church, we’re not trying to be flashy or fancy. We’re trying to be faithful—to help all people from all nations find and follow Jesus through the Bible, community, service, and mission.
Let’s keep our eyes on Jesus and our feet on the path He’s called us to walk—together.
